Bank. The reactive [unconscious] mind, packed with past pains and sins.
Barratry. (English word) bringing vexatious lawsuits--common Scn practice.
Beingness.Being...(a personality or role); DOINGNESS, HAVINGNESS.
BIG-WIN[TM!] A magnificient achievement, make sure you report 2 or 3 a week;
often some quite incomprensible piece of ''spiritual progress''.
Billion Year Contract, binding you to the Sea Org for many lifetimes.
BLOW (from 50's jivetalk?), clear off, leave suddenly.
BTs/BODY THETANS. Spirits so degraded as to be parasites on others.
Board of Investigation. Scientology kangaroo court.
Boohoos/Grim Weepers. Shellfish which humans evolved from (!), responsible for our gulping+weeping behaviours.
BPI is, confusingly, used for two things. [Adverb, level of circulation] Broad Public issue i.e. to everyone.
[Noun, an organisation] Bridge Publications Inc, Scientology's publising arm.
BRIDGE[to total freedom]. Successive layers of training/revelation.
Bullbaiting. Do simple training despite being shouted at to distract you.

Conception and the impules generated answer for one type of cancer... cancer has been eradicated by auditing out conception and mtiosis'' -- LRH, History of Man, Ch3.

Cult Awarwness Network Was an organisation to helps people leaving cults; it was sued into submission and the name taken over by CoS to decieve people with.
Cancel-Poodle. Scientologist(s) systematically cancelling other people's critical posts.
Case[-State]. One's spiritual problems and spiritual progress within Scn.
C/S, Case Supervisor. Person in charge of auditors and their clients.
CCHR/Citizens Commission on Human Rights: Scn anti-psychiatry frontgroup.
CST/Centre for Spirtual Technology Scn corporation owning the copyright on Hubbard's books.
CLAMS LRH says we evolved from them, hence sarcastic name for Scienos.
Class. Level or Grade of training, e.g. ''Class VII auditor''.
Clay-Demo. Reinforce training by making plasticine models of the action.
CLEAR Having achieved the first principal step of Scn enlightenment.
Cluster, of BTs. A bunch of BTs hanging out together.
Cognition. Sudden new insight; shows a process has been repeated enough.
Conditions: in Scn ethics, from best (i.e. earning money and helping Scn) downwards: Power, PowerChange,
Affluence, NormalOperation, Emergency, Danger, Non-Existence, Doubt, Enemy, Treason, Confusion.
Co$/Church of $cientology. The main church organisation.
Cramming. Discipline to revise errors in accuracy of ''Tech'' or ''Admin''.
CSI/Church of Scientology International. The main international organisation of the church.

DEAD AGENT The standard Co$ practice of dealing with criticism by making extreme personal attacks on the critic, to discredit them so much that no one will bother to address what they're actually saying.
Declare someone an SP, or enemy; formally excommunicate them.
Damnation Navy, nickname for the SEA-ORG.
Dev-T/Developed Traffic. When someone's work behaviour makes them [or others] not do what they're employed for: i.e. do the work actually assigned them, in a way that produces the profits or results demanded. It could be not doing the right work---doing everyone else's jobs or getting them to do yours---or it could be frittering away effort in ways that add nothing to production, but it is always considered a big NoNo.
DIANETICS the originally therapy, or self-improvement, form of Scn.
Disconnection. Being told by Scn to separate from friends or family.
DM/David Miscavidge; PoodleBoy. Hubbard's successor as leader of Co$.
Doingness, the act of doing something (WOW!), see BEINGNESS.
Down-Stat. Not producing enough dosh for the church; derogatory term.
Duplicate.Make or imagine an exact copy, often used for ''understand''.
Dynamics. They are successively 1-self, 2-family/sex, 3-group, 4-mankind; 5-AllLife, 6-AllMatter, 7-AllSpirit, 8-infinity.

''Get the pre-clear to imagine that his eyes are in his mouth, looking out''

ED/Executive Director. Chief Officer of a scientology organisation;
also Executive Directive, an instruction written by the ED.
E-METER This is a simple resistance meter acting as a lie detector by detecting changes
of fluid availability in sweat glands under the skin.
ENGRAM A remembered moment of pain that constrains our future actions,
until we realise its nature and hence make it vanish.
Entheta. Bad vibes, nasty stuff, ungood; opposite of THETA.
ENTURBULATE Cult word for annoy, harass, disturb.
EOC/End Of Cycle. End of a cycle of action; also, euphemism for suicide.
EP/End Phenomenon. End result & expected gain from an auditing process.
ETHICS Scientology discipline, all about producing cash for Scn, also the department
which deals with it (as in ''route him to ethics''); Ethics Officer, person in charge of ethics at an org.
Exteriorise. To leave the body and act as a spirit.

FACT-NET Fight Against Coercive Tactics network -- a Bulletin Board of anticult information.
FAIRGAME; ''can be sued, tricked, lied to or destroyed.'' The policy for dealing with
anyone who has been declared an enemy of the church. Policy has since changed that this name
is no longer to be used, but the actual handling remains the same.
Fall. The E-METER needle drops about one inch to the left.
FDSing/False Data Stripping. Unlearning realworld concepts, and replacing them with
the ''correct'' Scn alternatives.
Field, the: The outside world, seen as a resource to be exploited.
FSM/Field Staff member, person charged with recruiting ''raw meat'' (punters),
at 15% commission on the services they buy.
FLAG, the centre of command. Formely the yacht Apollo where Hubbard resided; now Flag Land Base in Clearwater, Florida. Flag Order, in blue ink on white paper, central command order
succeeding HCOPLs. Flag Rep, the person who liases with flag at an ORG.
Flap. Panic, serious incident, bad publicity; from 1950s slang, very characteristic usage.
Flub. (Old 1950's Jive Talk). Fail, cock it up; a failure, a cock-up. Flubber, nickname for HUBBARD, both from ''flub'' and because he was a fat bouncy object (''flubber'' features in a 60s mad scientist film as a sort of super-bouncy rubber).
FLUNK [+reason you failed]. Do it again. START. The words used in various training routines when the person fails to do whatever it was continually and without being distracted. A very annoying thing to say to a Scieno when you've just caught them out in debate....
F/N, Floating Needle. the E-Meter needle is swinging gently back and forth, indicating session
successfully completed; ''good vibes'' generally.
Freewinds. Scn Sea Org's current ship, on which senior courses are given.
FREE-ZONERS; squirrels; protestant scientologists. Those (about 40% of) practicising scientologists who
have departed from the official church doctrines and organisation.

GANGBANG Sec-Check All normal auditing conventions are abandoned, and multiple persons relentlessly question a person suspected of disloyalty using the E-Meter as a lie detector.
GO/GUARDIANS OFFICE Set up to act as the interface with the outside world, primarily as an intelligence/dirtytricks operation, it was disbanded when caught stealing files from government offices on a large scale---and reformed under the new name OFFICE of SPECIAL AFFAIRS.
Good roads/fair weather handling. To answer a hostile utterance in an apparently insane way, by ignoring the existance of any crtitcal parts and responding only to any friendly content; or, if none, just ''nice weather we're having''.The theory is to control conversation by rewarding (with acknowledgement) the responses you like and discouraging (with non-ack) those you don't, and to set a favourable example the other will follow.
Grades, levels, or classes of training/revelation within Scn.
Green Volumes, elaborate instructions on ''admin''.

''Let's not go upsetting governemnts and putting on a show to 'prove' anything...for a while; it's a horrible temptation to knock off hat at fifty yards and read books a couple of countries away'' ---LRH, ibid.

HANDLE To deal with (a person, situation etc); favourite cult word.
HAT A job or function; hatted, trained for a job or function.
Hat, aluminium foil: said to improve O.T. powers by excluding electromagnetic waves,
and a common putdown of Scienos (''go put on your tinfoil hat...''). Probably mythical, though.
Havingess. Having, er.....stuff; see BEINGNESS, DOINGNESS.
HCO/Hubbard Communications Office. The deparment at flag from which all detailed instruction are issued. HCOB, H-C-O-Bulletin, red ink on white paper, giving instructions on ''Tech'' [doctrine and ritual]. HCOPL, H-C-O-Policy Letter, green ink on white paper, giving instructions on ''Admin'' [bureacracy].
High Crime. A serious offence against Scn ''ethics''.
HUBBARD, L.RON., hack SF writer who decided he could make a lot of money selling a self-help therapy
called Dianetics, which then became the Scientology ''religion'' so it wouldn't have to pay taxes.
Also known as Tubbard, Blubbard, Tub-O-Lard, El Rotundo, etcetera.
'Ho of Babble-On [variant from Whore of Babalon/Babylon]. CoS principal attorney Helena ''Handbasket'' Kobrin, because she (figuratively) prostitutes herself for the Chrutch---also a reference to Hubbard carrying out with Jack Parsons a black magic ritual called the Babalon Working, to invoke the Whore.
IAS/International Association of Scientologists. You have to pay up and join this
in order to receive Scn services.

''One's body is a mass of individual thetans stuck to oneself or to the body''
---LRH, Operating thetan III.

I/C In charge of; the i/c, the person in charge of... (orig. military).
IMPLANT Delusion implanted in us by the forces of evil, to keep us tied to the illusory material world---
Xianity results from the ''R6 Implant''.
Incident#1. The creation of the material universe 4, 000,000, 000,000 years ago. Incident#2. The fun little
firework party which Xemu held with H-Bombs and volcanoes 75,000,000 ago; see OT3.
Indicate: read on the E-Meter; also used as ''ring true''.
Invalidate. To belittle, diminish, make less capable.

''The entirety of Roman Catholicism--the devil, all this sort of thing--that is all part of [the] R6 [implant]'' ---LRH, class VIII auditor course tape#10.

Key-In: to remind of, and make active, a pain-memory [engram], but fail to heal it.
KoX/KNIGHTS-OF-XEMU. Xemu, or Xenu, is the principal demonic bad guy in Scn, and many critics dedicate themselves to being his knights and partisans. This is a title you are invited to take up for yourself and add to your sig, with no entry requirement: see [KOX PAGE].
KR/KNOWLEDGE-REPORT Scieno's are encouraged to write up other members' supposed sins to the ethics division; also verb, ''KRed him.''
KRC/Knowledge, Responsibility, Control ---all about power. The main Scieno triangle, senior over ARC, which is about freindship & affection.
KSW / Keep Scientology Working: a series of HCOPLs, and the admin course based on them.

LAZARUS Program, designed by Homer Wilson Smith to counter the CancelPoodle, it posts up warnings for any articles cancelled in a.r.s.
Level, same as CLASS, or GRADE.
LINES Scientology training and services; ON-LINES, consuming training
or services; off-lines, not receiving training or services.
LF/Long-Fall. The needle of the E-METER falls about two inches leftwards; LFBD/LongFall BlowDown, it swings so far left that that the scale must be reset to bring the reading back onto the dial.

''Somebody somewhere on this planet back about 600 BC found some pieces of R6...by watching madmen or something. But since that time they have used it, and it became what is known as Chritianity'' ---LRH, ibid.

MARKAB a star in Polaris from which the main forces of evil [Markab Confederacy] are supposed to originate.
MAA/Master At Arms, the person responsible for ''ethics'' (discipline) in a Sea Org unit.
Meatball. This is the derogatory term used by FreeZone [protestant] scientologists for outsiders, implying a sleepwalker; as opposed to a "dreamball" who has become lucid in the dream of life.
Merchant of Chaos. Cult term for troublemaking anti-scientologist.
M.E.S.T, Matter, Energy, Space and Time: the illusory physical world.
Mission, formerly and more accurately described as a franchise; arrangement by which you pay
to set up a local Scn church then, if it makes any profit, they take it all off you anyway.
Mock-Up. Visualise; mentally create.
Motivator. A will to be punished, as a result of our overts (sins) against others, which ''pulls in'' harm as a result.
M/U, MISUNDERSTOOD-WORD. If you are tired, confused etc by the Scn claptrap you are studying, it is because you have gone past a word you misunderstood--look it up in the dictionary. M/U Phenomena: if you begin to think that Scn is a load of cobblers and consider blowing the cult, that is because you went past and M/U and it wasn't prompty handled, honest! (This is one of the control mechanisms by which you are taught to invalidate any doubte arising in yourself or others).

NARCONON Scieno front drug rehabilitation program, chiefly useful for syphoning MedicAid money into the cult.
Natter,negative chatter, caused by M/Us or OVERTs.
NEW-ERA-DIANETICS Dianetics, the main and earlier part of Scientology, revised to deal with
the ''whole track'' of your past lives.
Non-Existence. This is the CONDITION you are put in when you first arrive and don't know
how to do anything productive, so you must work your way up from there.
NOTs/New Era Dianetics for OT's. Replaces parts of the original O.T. Levels from IV upwards.

''One cannot go so far as to say that psychiatry and psychology knowingly create criminals or actively plan and implant their patients to commit crimes, even though it might look this way in some cases.''---LRH

Operation PC Freakout. Intelligence operation to drive critical author Paulette Cooper to suicide or insanity. Operation Snow- White. 1979 project to make goovernment files on scientology ''snow white'' by stealing and shredding hostile ones---six church leaders, including the founder's wife Mary Sue Hubbard, did jail time for this. Operation FootBullet. Troutman's contention that CoS are so determiedly fouling up their legal tactics that they must be doing it deliberately to get sympathy;0).
ORG (Organisation) a Scientology local ''church'', usually an office or shop. Org Board. Divisions and posts
within Scn bureaucracy, presecribed in great detail.
O.S.A/Office of Special Affairs. Intelligence, dirty tricks and lies-- erm, PR-- division,
successor to the GUARDIANS OFFICE.
OT/OPERATING-THETAN The inner revelations of scientology above CLEAR, which make one able to act as a thetan (spirit) independent of the body. O.T. Levels, currently I through VIII, the courses for achieving this.O.T.III (the ''wall of fire'') is the one which discloses Scn's space-opera cosmology. O.T.7 orginally invited you to become Dr Doolittle and talk to zoo animals....see my O.T.Summary .
Out-Ethics. In breach of cult discipline; not obeying or not making money! Out-2D. A breach
of ''ethics'' concerning sex.
Out-Point. Something which doesn't fit -- the error which caused you to fail [''standard tech exactly applied always works; if you failed, you must have done something wrong''].
OVERTS Sins against others, or against the cult.

PRE-CLEAR Person who is receiving scientology auditing, the aim being to become CLEAR. PRE-OT, person who is receiving auditing at a higher level, with the aim of progressing from Clear to O.T. Illegal PC, one whom it is against the rules to take on as PC e.g. because they are mentally ill.
PEANUT BUTTER IN YER UNDERPANTS. It was solemnly announced that a prominent critic had used
this tactic to dodge the draft (see DEAD-AGENTING); it seems CoS don't realise how stupid this makes them,
not their victim, look.
POODLE-BOY; Poison-Dwarf; Lawn-Ornament; Tidy-Bowl man. Nicknames for
current church leader David Miscavidge.
Postulate. Wish into existence (...enough funds to back a cheque for your next Scn course,
and they will appear!).
Process, a stage or exercise in auditing rituals.
Psychs. Psyciatrists, the evil druglords who--according to Scn--control the world.
PT/Present Time. Scienos are living in the present moment, wogs [non-believers] aren't. Present Time Problem. A problem in your life currently; erm, a problem.
PTS/Potential Trouble Source, a Scieno who has strayed from the straight and narrow, usually by talking to enemies of the church. PTS TYPE III, insane.
Purif/Pruification-Rundown. Fasting, saunas and mega-vitamins to cleanse out the residues of past drug use;
can be medically dangerous.

''The current OT I is done outdoors and consists solely of one command run until cognition: 'Spot a person'. concludes OT I''. ---Fishman Affidavit.

RAW MEAT Recruits or mugs, consumed to keep the operation alive [although only their bank balances
are eaten up, not literally their flesh].
R2. Process for making the spirit exteriorise from the body. R2-45, performing R2 by means of a bullet in the head.
RUDS(rudiments). In auditting, you run the PreClear on ''rudiments'' [i.e. have you got any present problems or any overts troubling you] to clear the air and set them at ease, before going into the formal part of the session.
RUN. To carry out auditing ''processes'' or rituals, as in ''run such & such a process [on the PreClear]''. Run-Down, that part of a scientology containing the actual rituals or processes to be carried out---as opposed to the Student Bulletin, which is informative background.
Running round a pole...for hours in heat: a form of punishment on R.P.F.
Reactive mind, see Bank.
Red Volumes, those containing ''Tech'' (doctrine); Green Volumes contain ''Admin''.
Reg. To resister (sign up and pay), or register others, for courses; also ''the Reg'', the Resgistrar who signs you up.
Repair. When a course hasn't achieved the desired result, it's your fault and the solution is to sign up
for more courses [sigh!].
Restimulate. To reactivate, or rawaken, a memory of past pain (engram) by showing you a similar stimulus.
RICE AND BEANS Punishment diet common on the R.P.F.
R/S, Rock Slam. The needle of the E-METER swings violently back and forth across the scale;
said to indicate treasonous thoughts.
Ron, see HUBBARD.
R.P.F/Rehabilitation Project Force. Punisment duty for Sea Org members in disgrace;
often at internal prison camps.
RTC/Religious Technology Centre. Currently the Centre for spiritual Technology is the body used to own the Hubbard writings, and RTC controls their use and licencing which includes suing over violations of copyright.

''For eons, man has speculated...about...the Physical Universe ....On OT5 you learn the truth about [this]; not the laws of physical scientists, but the basic considerations about Matter, Energy, Space & Time.''--LRH.

Saint Hill (manor). Scientology's UK headquarters in Surrey; at one time HUBBARD was based there.
SCAMIZDAT. From the Russian ''SAMIZDAT'', == selfpublishing of forbidden docments, about SCAMS: a person or persons unknown who was so outraged by the CoS raids on the homes of Internet users in America that they repeatedly self-published a quantity of ''secret'' Co$ documents, via encrypted anoymous remailings. The most plausible speculation says it is no more than 3 people; The most informed speculation and that they are remailer / cryptography types, who don't bother posting on a.r.s. but let their actions ''speak louder than words'' when it becomes necessary.
SCIENTOLOGY. Dianetics as a religion; title taken from Nordholtz's book ''Sceintologie 34''.
SEA-ORG. The elite corps of scientology staff, originally the Org (parish) based around the founder
on his yacht Apollo. Sea Org churches , sometimes loosely called ''Sea Orgs'', those senior central organisations staffed entirely by members of the Sea Org.
Sec Check. Security check; interroration, as to whether you are trustworthy for a higher post or higher course,
or if you are suspected of disloyalty.
SerFac/Service Facsimile. A delusory idea of which you've convinced yourself as an excuse for failure.
Shore Story. Cover story for some nefarious act done on the cult's behalf.
Shouting at Ashtrays. Involved in one of the TR's; a standard put down of Scienos (''go put on your bacofoil hat
and shout at some ashtrays'').
SO1/Standing Order One, said that ''You can always write to Ron'' (now, to the Excutive Director
of CSI). The SO1 line or crew are ''santa's helpers'', who answer these letters to the north pole
and forge the required signature.
Solo auditing. Performed on oneself, rather than by an auditor, at higher levels. Solo-NOTs, NOTs
performed in this way.

SUPRESSIVE PERSON: an enemy of the church, hence subject to fair game. SP Levels: awards taken by critics showing the extent of their involvement against it, see [SPLev URL]; it is bad form
to claim a level you don't qualify for.
SQUIRRELLING Varying from standard ''Tech'' as laid down (presumably held to be
a ''nutty'' activity); see FREE-ZONERS.
STATS, Your production statistics, which must constantly improve. Up-Stat,
productive = good, Down-Stat unproductive = unworthy, rubbish.
Study-Tech. Hubbard's wonderful methods for learning any subject: see examples of the resulting literacy

Teegeeack. Name for planet earth used in the O.T.III document.
Terminal. The person fully hatted (trained) for their post (job), to whom it is therefore appropriate
that you report---''consult a proper terminal on that.''
THETAN, spirit or soul. Theta =good vibes. Entheta=Bad vibes.
TONE-SCALE. A scale by Hubbard on which emotions are lined up along a numerical scale
